About Us

About UsLewis & Clark has been running raft trips on the Snake River since 1971. Since we're a small company, we feel we can stress more personalized service. Our guides are seasoned outdoor professionals who typically have experience running rivers across America. They have the skills to provide you with professional, entertaining and educational outings on the Snake River. Owners James Peck and Karen Youngblood bought the company in 1994 and take great pride in creating a family atmosphere at their operation. Their two daughters, ages now 13 and 16, have helped greatly in forming a service philosophy that stresses rafting fun for people of all ages. Karen's father ran our whitewater trip at age 82.

Testimonials

"Having done the float trip during a previous trip to Jackson Hole, we
decided to try the White Water experience. Having just days before
celebrating my 73rd birthday, I thought it was time to try something I
had never done before. From my call from North Carolina to make the
reservation to being outfitted by the staff for our river experience,
everything was done to my satisfaction and with the utmost courtesy. Six
people in our group went and from the driver who took us to the start
point and picked us up at the take out point to the guide who gave great
information to keep us informed with what to expect to funny anecdotal
information, we all had a great time and I now can look at my framed
picture of us going through a rapid with great satisfaction. Lewis and
Clark River Expeditions will continue to be my choice for adventures in
Jackson Hole"

"I decided it was time to introduce my sons to white water rafting this
summer and chose Lewis and Clark because they had an early morning,
breakfast included, time! I'm so glad I did. I've gone on several white
water rafting trips on the Colorado River, this was my first on the
Snake and it was a blast. I knew that at this time of year the rapids
would be more mild, but it was a perfect time to introduce my 10 and 12
year old sons to it. The breakfast was hot and delicious, the guide
informative, funny and knowledgeable, the bus driver was too! The
pictures were the best I've seen taken of a white water trip, and the
best thing of all - we had the river to ourselves at that time of the
day. Perfect!"

"Our family had two wonderful rafting experiences with L&C! We first
took a scenic tour with lunch included. Our guide (Jess) was terrific -
he pointed out wildlife and other interesting facts about the area we
rafted through as well as general information about Jackson. After that
trip and learning more about the whitewater rafting on the Snake River,
we booked a 2nd trip. We were concerned about our son who was in a full
arm cast being able to enjoy the whitewater trip. An unexpected surprise
was that the kids were given free wetsuits to ensure their comfort. We
again had an awesome guide, Aaron, who made it so fun for the kids...
There were about 3 or so class 3 rapids and a couple points where we
could get out and "swim" or at least get wet during the hour and 15
minute trip. It was fun and exciting for our family with our 6 year old
fearless one and our 8 year old with a cast. Thanks Lewis & Clark
for a great experience!"
